China-South Asia Business Forum (the “Forum”) is the first forum mechanism established for regional economic cooperation between Chinese and SAARC industrial and commercial circles, in the background of ever-increasing mutual trust in politic affairs and continuous economic cooperation between China and South Asian countries. The Forum represents the common will of the industrial and commercial circles for strengthening cooperation and procuring mutual benefits in countries within the region, and is intended to provide an important platform for better communication and collaboration among the parties.
The success of past China-South Asia Business Forum sessions held in Kunming not only reflects the attention and efforts of Yunnan Province to cooperation development with the South Asia and its active participation, but also enables the industrial and commercial circles of the South Asian countries to have a full understanding of the unique geographical advantages and great potential of Yunnan Province for cooperation between Yunnan and the South Asia.
Since 2004, the forum has been successfully held in Kunming, Yunnan Province for 12 sessions (the first three sessions were held once every two years, and from 2008 on the forum has been held once a year). It is jointly cosponsored by CCPIT, People’s Government of Yunnan Province and SAARC CCI and undertaken by CCPIT (Yunnan) and Secretariat of China-South Asia Business Forum. Political leaders and industry elites from China and South Asian countries have been invited to deliver speeches at every session. The forum plays a pioneering role in promoting mutual understanding, economic and trade cooperation and information communication between China and South Asian countries, defined by the South Asian business community as the brand forum of cooperation between business communities of China and South Asia.
